This Royal Enfield Motorcycle tour in Bhutan, Nepal and North East India has
a combination of tea estates, monasteries and serpentine roads. This
relaxing and easy going Motorcycle tour offers magnificent views of the
Kanchenjunga especially in the early morning at Tiger Hill in Darjeeling,
India and beautiful lofty ridges of the Eastern Himalayas in Bhutan and
Nepal, a land of incredible beauty. You also have the chance of river
rafting in Kosi River in Nepal and a visit to the Chitwan Wild Life Park.
Day 01
Arrive in Kathmandu early morning. Morning at leisure. Afternoon
seasoning on the bike and local sight seeing on the outskirts of the
Kathmandu town.
Day 02 : (Kathmandu – Chitwan,
160 km)
A pleasant ride on the highway for
most part - a good road and beautiful scenery en route.
Day 03
At Leisure in Chitwan.
Day 04 : (Chitwan – Kosi, 250 km)
We make an early start today and ride to Kosi. The objective is to reach by lunch time and after lunch take a break
from the bikes to enjoy 3 hours of river rafting.
Day 05 : (Kosi - Kakarbita
– Darjeeling, 250 km)
A long drive with patience
of Hunter as we cross from the Terai area of Nepal into West Bengal in India
to reach Darjeeling.
Day 06 : (Darjeeling - Rumtek - Gangtok
- 180 km)
We ride through tea
gardens on hair pin bends to arrive at Rumtek Monastery. Visit the Rumtek
Dharma Chakra. After lunch we ride along the Teesta river on to Gangtok.
Day 07 : (Gangtok – Zuluk, 225
km)
We will ride via Changu lake today. This
ride is along a flat plateau area and then downhill through hairpin bends to
reach Zuluk. Overnight camp.
Day 08 : (Zuluk – Jaldapara, 250
km)
The initial ride from Zuluk is in an
isolated area. The road condition is not very good in this area because this
region is known for its rain & fog. We will proceed to Jaldapara and check
in at Forest Lodge.
Day 09 : (Jaldapara - Phuentsholing – Thimphu,
198 km)
After a visit to the Jaldapara National Park we will ride on the National Highway to reach
Phuentsholing at the base of the foothills. After sightseeing ride on to
Thimphu - the capital town of Bhutan.
Day 10 : (Thimphu – Trongsa, 200
km)
After sightseeing of Thimphu we will
ride to Trongsa through some spectacular scenery in the beautiful little
kingdom of Bhutan.
Day 11 : (Trongsa - Bumthang – Trongsa,
150 km)
Local sight seeing of Bumthang Valley (altitude 8,530 feet - 13,125 feet) - including visit to
Jakar Dzong, Kurje Monastery, Jambay Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang. Fall
back to Trongsa for overnight stay.
Day 12 : (Trongsa - Punakha – Paro,
255 km)
We will ascend the Dochula pass
(3,088 m) en route with some splendid views of the distant Himalayas as we
proceed towards Paro via Punakha. The ride today shall be in an alpine
valley along serpentine roads.
Day 13
At Leisure in Paro. This beautiful valley encapsulates within
itself rich culture, scenic beauty and hundreds of myths and legends and is
home to many of Bhutan's oldest temples and monasteries. Paro is also one of
the more fertile valleys in the Kingdom.
Day 14
Alas! Time to bid goodbye to the bikes today and take the mountain
flight from Paro to Kathmandu on the last day of our motorcycle tour. Arrive
in Kathmandu and enjoy the day shopping and sightseeing in the town before
connecting to your onward flight for home.
