BHUTAN – 07 nights / 08 days tour  (A)

Day 01 : Arrive Paro 

  • Meeting & assistance on arrival and transfer to the hotel.

  • Evening take a stroll around Paro market and town.

  • Overnight Hotel Olathang or similar, Paro. 

Day 02 : Paro  

  • Morning visit Drukgyel Dzong (dzong = fortress/monastery), the ruined fortress from where Bhutanese repelled several invasion by Tibetan armies.  On a clear day, there is  splendid view of Mt. Chomolhari from the approach road to this Dzong.

  • Later visit Ta Dzong (National Museum) and then walk down the trail to visit Rinpung Dzong, the fortress which has a long and fascinating history.

  • Evening visit to Kyichu Lhakhang (lhakhang = temple).

  • Overnight Hotel Olathang or similar,  Paro. 

Day 03 : Paro / Thimphu (55 km, 2 hours) 

  • Morning drive to Thimphu en route visit Simtokha Dzong, the oldest fortress of the Kingdom which now houses the School for religious and cultural studies.

  • Afternoon free for shopping and leisure.

  • Overnight Hotel Motithang or similar, Thimphu. 

Day 04 : Thimphu 

  • Morning drive to BBS Tower for fascinating view of Thimphu valley and later visit Mini zoo, Anim Dratshang (nunnery), National Library, Handmade Paper factory & Memorial Chorten (stupa).

  • Afternoon, as the time permits, visit to School of Arts & Crafts, Textile & Folk Heritage Museum, Zangtho Pelri Lhakahng (lhakhang = temple) and Handicrafts Emporium.

  • Overnight Hotel Motithang or similar, Thimphu. 

Day 05 :  Thimphu – Punakha (75 km, 2.1/2 hours) 

  • Morning drive to Punakha taking a short stop at Dochula pass (3,080m) that heralds the most enchanting views of Bhutan.

  • Afternoon visit Punakha Dzong and Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten (chorten = stupa).

  • Evening free in fascinating Punakha valley.

  • Overnight Hotel Zangtho Pelri or similar, Punakha. 

Day 06 : Punakha (Excursion to Wangduephodrang) 

  • Morning transfer to Wangduephodrang visiting Dzong and local market. The district of Wangduephodrang is also famous for its bamboo products, slate and stone carvings.

  • Overnight at Hotel Zangtho Pelri or similar, Punakha. 

Day 07 : Punakha – Paro (125 km, 4.1/2 hours) 

  • Morning transfer to Paro.

  • Afternoon visit to Paro market and a traditional farm house.

  • Overnight Hotel Olathang or similar, Paro. 

Day 08 : Depart Paro 

  • Morning transfer to the airport for flight to onward destination.

Services Included : 

AP (American Plan) – airport transfers, accommodation on twin sharing basis, all meals (bed tea, breakfast, lunch, dinner, evening tea) , sightseeing as per itinerary, guide, entrance.

MAP (Modified American Plan) – airport transfers, accommodation on twin sharing basis, meals (bed tea, breakfast, evening tea, dinner), sightseeing as per itinerary, guide, entrance.

CP (Continental Plan) – airport transfers, accommodation on twin sharing basis, sightseeing as per itinerary, entrance.

Note : 

Ta Dzong (National Museum) is closed on Mondays and National Holidays.  Its opening time is Tue – Sat : 9 a.m to 4 p.m and Sun : 11 a.m to 4 p.m.  Entrance fees Rs. 50/ per person.

Visit to Trashichhodzong, Thimphu is possible only after 5 p.m, when monk body is not in Thimphu.

School of Arts & Crafts : visit possible in afternoon 2 – 4 p.m (Mon-Fri) and 9-12 a.m (Sat). It is closed in winter from 17 Dec till 10 Mar. Entrance fees Rs. 50/ per person.

Punakha Dzong is closed for tourists in winter months, when the monk body residing there.

The above itinerary is subject to change for convenience of applying route permit for Punakha & Wangduephodrang.

Visit to Dochula pass not possible for tourists visiting during weekends ( Fri to Mon).
